The Adventist Men Ministry of the Adentan District of the Seventh Day Adventist (SDA) Church on Wednesday held the second edition of the Adventist Men Peace Walk in Accra.
The walk which begun at 0700 hours from Lotto Kiosk, a suburb of Adentan saw about 100 men, women, children and other sponsors going through Ashaley Botwe, Riz Junction, Adentan barrier and ended at Adentan community school park.
Speaking on the theme :”Join the Adventist to Promote Peace in the upcoming Elections,” Mr Alex Karikari, the Leader of the Adventist Men Ministry said the theme was timely especially with the December 7 elections.
He said: “We believe that being responsible members in the society we have to be vehicle for peace by promoting it extensively through exemplary lifestyles.
“Besides as Christians the Bible admonishes us to be peaceful hence embarking on this quadrilinear event since the creation of the district,” he said.
Mr Karikari added that not only was the exercise promoting peace but rather it was good health wise.
Pastor Isaac Donkor, the District Pastor of the Adentan SDA Church, speaking to the Ghana News Agency in an interview said the initiative was a laudable one especially when peace is a fabric of livelihood as without it there would be no life.
“As a Christian organisation we believe in the admonishing in Romans 12:18,” he said.
Pastor Donkor urged Christians to live peacefully with all men saying: “I entreat everyone to drink peace, promote and ensure that we live in peace before, during and after the elections,” he advised.
Pastor Dr Oheneba Odei Agyei, the Director of the Meridean Ghana Field of the SDA Church, lauded the organisers of the walk and urged them to keep it up.
He urged the political parties to take active part in the walk for a worthy course to be achieved.
Alhaji Alhassan Razak, the Convention People’s Party Parliamentary Aspirant for Adentan, called on all to promote peace especially the youth in the Municipality for better progress to be achieved.
The walk which started four years ago, was sponsored by Valley View University, the Municipal Assembly and the Desire of Ages Co-operative Credit Union.
