The Supreme Court ruling on the 2012 presidential election petition was like a final spot kick in a grand to finale to decide who lifts the trophy and who gets the silva medal for second position in a soccer tournament.
When the final kick is going to be taken, you see the whole stadium dead silent as some supporters pray for the winner whiles the opponents also pray for level up terms, so the country Ghana was dead silent on August 29, 2012.
The country Ghana was dead silent on that day as workers signed off from their duties earlier than normal in order to reach home safely. Parents brooded over their children like hen protecting the chicken from the hawk.
All because there were speculations of possible mayhem or chaos after the ruling as it was rumored that both sides were not going to accept defeat and might move their supporters to strike and cause chaos.
Tension was brought to bear on the nine Supreme Court judges who were chaired by Justice William Atuguba who in ten minutes read the judgment ending the eight months election petition case at the highest court of the land.
Before, during and after the ruling what was the weather condition? Was it clearer skies or cloudy skies? If the day experienced clear skies did it mean that God accepted the ruling?
If not was the weather cloudy meaning God wanted to speak to Ghanaians that he did not accept the ruling by the Supreme Court justices? No but read Psalm 99:7 which reads ?You [HERE REFERING TO GOD] spoke to them from a thick cloud and they obeyed your laws.
Was the ruling over the election petition so powerful to change the weather condition at that moment? Did the change of weather give any divine reaction to the passing of judgment on the election petition case?
Maybe yes as series of biblical accounts expressed how God showed his anger by speaking to his people through thick clouds.
After Jesus Christ has died on the cross what happened, there was a thick cloud with powerful thunder which shook the earth and divided the curtain into two at the holy of holiest in the temple.
When the high court judges and the army officer were murdered in cold blood and their bodies were set on fire what happened? There was a thick cloud followed by rain that quenched the fire only for their charred bodies to be identified later.
It all started when Nana Akufo Addo, the 2012 NPP presidential candidate, his running mate Dr. Mohamadu Bawumiah and the then national chairman of the NPP Mr. Jake Obestebi-Lamptey filed a petition under article 64 of the 1992 constitution section 5 of the presidential election act to challenge the validity of President John Dramani Mahama.
The petitioners led by lawyer Philip Addison, requested that 3,931,339 of the votes be annulled because there were violations and malpractices at 10,119 polling stations in the country.
The nine supreme court justices chaired by Justice William Atuguba read the judgment where he said,? over all effect is that the first respondent [PRESIDENT MAHAMA] was validly elected and the petition was therefore dismissed.
After president Mahama was pronounced the victor, it was expected that throngs of students, NDC party members and ordinary Ghanaians at various points in the country would hurdled in a circle, raised their hands into the heavens and thank God for delivering unto them their leader.
There was nothing like celebration of victory by supporters of the president and his NDC bigwigs either as they did not hit the streets to jubilate the ruling on their behalf.
NPP supporters who were shocked of the ruling only have to go to bed very early. There was no jubilation in Koforidua, Kyebi, Nkawkaw, Suhum,Oda, Manhyia, Asokwa and some parts of the country that were expected to erupt in celebration after the ruling.
Aside the jubilation that never greeted the ruling, what are Ghanaians saying about the president and his government for the past one year and eight months that it has been in office?
Justice William Atuguba chairing the nine Supreme Court justices which sat on the election petition ruled that ?the over all effect is that the first respondent PRESIDENT MAHAMA was validly elected?.
Are the president and his ministers in government fulfilling their mandate as promised Ghanaians during the electioneering campaign season?
If yes then why are all these demonstrations being staged against his administration for what demonstrators claim poor economy being run by the president.
Did the Supreme Court ruling in fact reflects on what Ghanaian eligible voters expressed in selecting a president in the 2012 presidential election? If so then why are all these complaints against the president?
Instead of jubilating as Ghanaians, people are demonstrating bringing pressure to bear on the president to hear their voice on what they claim harsh living conditions as a result of his non performing government.
The Supreme Court justices were called to perform an important duty which was to help the citizenry decide on who was elected the president to lead the nation after the 2012 election results was challenged and they completed their work.
After the ruling, tons of Ghanaians especially the youth looked to President John Dramani Mahama for inspiration, for light as though he was going to drop manner from heaven to solve hunger once and for all in the country.
There was nothing wrong with Ghanaians wanting to be inspired after the election petition. But getting thrown into deceitful machines full of lies to make to them cast their votes for President Mahama makes no good citizenship.
President Mahama promised Ghanaians of programmes that would help them overcome their struggles.? President Mahama will give us better health care, he will pay for our children?s scholarship outside Ghana, he will guarantee us better jobs, and he will end all tribal wars.
And whiles he was at it, president Mahama said,? he would send the government super air ship ?BETTER GHANA AGENDA? from the castle to fly every Ghanaian to his government-run world where no one suffers for a living.
Since the land mark ruling which said that president Mahama was validly elected as the president of Ghana should we say that those messages were of false inspiration in bureaucracy?
