Nigerian singer Paul Okoye, widely known as Rudeboy, has opened up about the moment he knew his wife, Ivy Zenny, was the right person for him, recalling a small but telling act of financial modesty that set her apart from every woman he had dated after his first marriage ended.
Speaking in an interview with Clout Africa, the former P-Square member said that after his marriage to Anita Okoye collapsed, he entered three other relationships in search of a compatible partner, but each woman failed the standard he had set for himself. He said he was looking for someone who would simply be at peace with who she was, and who would allow him to feel the same.
That person turned out to be Ivy. Rudeboy recalled the moment clearly: he offered to take her shopping, and instead of filling a cart, she selected only two items, then told him the same amount of money would have stretched much further at Tejuosho market in Lagos. “She was real,” his interviewer remarked. “Thank you,” Rudeboy replied.
The singer also confirmed that his troubles with the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) have been resolved. He said a formal statement would be issued in due course. “And I’ve been cleared, by the way, by the EFCC. In due time, we’re going to put out the statement,” he said. He had previously alleged that a petition filed by his twin brother Peter Okoye, also known as Mr P, triggered the EFCC investigation into his finances, though he was subsequently cleared of all allegations.
Paul also touched on the creative side of his career, noting that some of his songs draw directly from personal relationships, including his track Reason With Me, which he said was inspired by a former partner.
Paul Okoye was previously married to Anita Okoye, with whom he shares three children. He is now married to Ivy Zenny, and the couple have one daughter together.
