Canadian company takes another hit in a bad year

There’s more trouble on the way for embattled phone maker RIM. Over the past few weeks, the RIM has had to put up with all sort of bad news and now they have another defeat in court under their belt.
It has been reported that the Canadian company is to fork out approximately $150 million (NGN24.3billion) in order to settle a patent suit with a New Jersey-based mobile device management company called Mformation.
It all started in 2008, when Mformation filed its suit against RIM, claimin that the Canadian company infringed on two of its patents. Mformation, alleged that RIM included patented functionality into their own product after preliminary licensing talks stalled.
RIM is expected to make a appeal to upturn the verdict.
It was earlier in the week reported that RIM has been looking to let go one of their two 9-passenger Dassault corporate jets to help reduce their financial burden. Apparently, the company is understood to be hoping for a sum around $6-7 million for the jet, but they may want to increase that asking price in light of recent events.
