Retaining Some MPs Is Suicidal For Their Constituencies

0

I heard Mr Blay, one of the people I respect soo much on radio give his personal opinion on an issue and from a near quote he stated that;

NPP And NDC
NPP And NDC

by his personal opinion,

1. Some of the MPs should not be contested during this up coming elections later in the year
2. The MP Aspirant internal election should also be held earlier.

As he stated, it was from his personal opinion and not from the party’s stand, as a result, I will also like to state my personal opinion with all humility.

Seriously I have no problem with his point number 2 and i also actually side with him because from my opinion, it will help us with more time to concentrate on our victory for 2016.

But I have a small problem with his point number 1 where he campaigns for some sitting MPS to be retained by allowing them go unopposed during this MP Aspirant primaries and below are my reasons

1. I don’t think Mr Blay would have won to become the vice chairman of NPP in 2014 if the previous chairman and vice chairmen have been allowed to go opposed and through that retained their seats.

2. Such a suggestion is like calling for an imposition/force of some MPs on the people in some constituencies whether they liked them or not without caring or putting into consideration their concerns/want.
This would be a huge political mistake because in a democratic kind of politics, you don’t give to the people what you want but what they want, its only when you give them what they want is when you get the actual results you want(Ejura-Sekyedumasi and Bekwai scenarios).

Its like trying to feed your GOAT with chicken/meat because its it’s birthday and thus from your opinion you would want to surprise and make it enjoy more. Note, the goat will rejected it totally not because it hates you but its because, that isn’t what it wants.

A similar situation is what happened in Bekwai and various other constituencies around Ghana which costed us so much votes and ones of the reason why we lost the 2008/2012 elections.

3. What is the fear of an MP losing or retaining his seat if he worked well to the satisfaction of the people/voters/electorates and I repeat the people/voters/electorates in a constituency and not necessarily the NPP DELEGATES only in the constituency because note, the votes of the delegates alone can’t win a party election so you will have consider the concerns of the people/electorates/voters very well when choosing an MP Aspirant to represent your party in a constituency.

My Small Advice
1. Please Mr Blay, if this your chant is to test the political waters and help drive home the political agenda of some failed/constituency rejected MPs or group of MPs then please stop because such a thing/move will only cause the party alot in the 2016 elections.

2. Lets allow an open game/a level playing field for all party members to contest for this position because it was through same open game/level playing field that same people became MPs.
Would they have become MPs if same conditions were brought out during their time and would they even have understood/agreed?

3. Lets not try to think for/force anything or anyone on the people because to them, it is an insult of their conscious and so, it will force them to make us pay dearly again in the 2016 elections as they have been doing previously to NPP in various elections anytime we force people on them.
Inshort, give to the people what they want and they will reward you handsomely during the elections.
