The death toll in the collapse of an apartment building in Paris rose to seven Monday as rescue workers continued to search for survivors, French authorities said.

French Interior Minister Bernard Cazeneuve said it appeared the collapse was caused by a gas explosion.
Firefighters found the body of a woman in her eighties pinned under the rubble of the building in the eastern suburb of Rosny-sous-Bois.
A mother and her two teenage children, two adults and a child approximately 10 years old were also killed when a blast ripped through the four-storey building on Sunday morning, causing half of it to cave in.
Eleven people were injured, four of them seriously.
Using a digger to clear the debris, firefighters continued to search for a man in his fifties who lived on the ground floor but held little hope of finding him alive.
