Harry Redknapp
Harry Redknapp said his “nightmare” was over after being cleared of tax evasion.
The Tottenham boss had denied accepting secret untaxed bonus payments from former Portsmouth chairman Milan Mandaric, while he was club manager.
Mr Mandaric was also cleared of two charges of cheating the public revenue over the £189,000 payments.
Moments after the not guilty verdicts Redknapp stood on the court steps flanked by his ex-footballer son Jamie Redknapp and slammed the investigation – saying that it “should never have been to court”.
The Tottenham Hotspur manager’s hopes of leading the England team received a major boost as he walked free from court.
Odds have now been slashed on Redknapp being the next England boss as Fabio Capello is set for showdown talks with the FA later yesterday.
The Italian is in hot water after criticising English football’s governing body over their decision to strip John Terry of the captaincy.
