The NDC parliamentary candidate for the Ablekuma North Constituency in the Greater Accra region, Ras Mubarak, was robbed Tuesday dawn around 2:00 A.M at his residence at Kwashieman-Kwashibu a suburb of Accra.
Confirming the incident on Peace FM?s Kokrokoo morning show yesterday, Ras Mubarak narrated that he left home around 2:00 A.M to pray since he was undertaking the annual fast after which he went back straight into his living room.
It was upon reaching his living room to watch television that he realised that his room had been robbed with all his electronic gadgets including television sets, radio sets among others missing.
He continued by saying he did not see the robbers but later found out that eight other houses had been robbed by them.
According to him, some of the victims who tried resisting the robbers who were said to be three in number were attacked with machete.
He used the opportunity to appeal to police personnel in the area to help residents in the fight against criminals, whom he reveals have been continuously terrorizing them.
Ras Mubarak also appealed to the youth in the area to form community watch dog groups to help reduce the activities of the criminals.
Police public relations officer, DSP Cephas Arthur, who was called to confirm if the issue had gotten to his outfit answered in the negative but was quick to add that those who were robbed should have called one of the police help lines- 191 for all networks and the 18555 for only MTN and Vodafone lines.
This, he believes, would have prompted a quick response since the incident took place in several houses.
He therefore asked the public to take note of the help lines and call whenever they are in trouble.
