The long-awaited date for the 2022 World Cup final in Qatar was finally decided on Thursday as Sunday December 18. 
Walter De Gregorio, FIFA’s director of communications, said: ” Finally we know the end of the tournament. It’s a Sunday and, by the way, it’s the national day in Qatar, so it fits perfectly.”
But he did not reveal when the World Cup will kick off, saying it will be confirmed by the governing body’s executive committee on Friday.
The decision to hold the final on December 18 means Britain’s traditional Christmas fixtures starting on 26 December are protected.
He added: “You have enough time to do your Christmas shopping.”
FIFA has also decided to shorten the 2022 World Cup to 28 days, compared to the normal period of 31 or 32 days. Enditem
