Protests on Trump’s doorstep

President-elect Donald Trump ran one of the most contentious and divisive political campaigns in modern American history. Since his victory in the recent U.S. presidential election, thousands of protestors have taken to the streets in cities across the country.

On 5th Avenue in New York outside Trump Tower, which serves as the President-elect’s residence and the headquarters of his organization, police officers have established a perimeter and are prohibiting anyone from entering the building as a result of the ongoing protests. With hundreds of police having been organized in hopes of deescalating the situation, tensions remain high. One officer on the ground commented, “It’s crazy. I don’t see this ending anytime soon. They’ve been out here since Election Day and I understand that the protestors have already made plans to protest Trump’s inauguration. Things could stay like this for three months or more.”
