Prof Nana Jane Opoku ? Education Minister

The Rev. Dr John Osei Appiah, President and Founder of Neumann International Schools, has appealed to government to extend support to private schools to help promote education delivery in the country.

Speaking at the 25th anniversary and 17th graduation day of Neumann International School at Obuasi, Rev. Dr Osei Appiah called for the extension of the capitation grant facility to private schools adding that it was equally important for them to be exempted from the payment of custom duties, taxes and other service charges when importing educational materials for their institutions.

He also appealed to government to waive duties on buses imported by private schools for use to help check overloading of little children in such school buses.

?I am appealing to government to waive the duties on school buses imported by private schools to enable them curb overloading on existing buses?, he said.

Rev. Dr Osei ? Appiah, who has another basic school in Kumasi and a Neumann College at Atwima Takyiman, said it was imperative for every child to own or have access to computer in order to boost the growth of modern computerization technology in the country.

He urged private school proprietors not to commercialize their schools by charging exorbitant fees since private schools are partnering the government to educate Ghanaian children.

Mr Prince Kyei, Branch Manager of COCOBOD in New Edubiase and an old student of the school, entreated the teachers and parents to offer the best support to the students to enable them achieve the desired academic goals.

He also urged other old students to rally behind the administration to build one of the best institutions in the Obuasi Municipality.

Bishop Emmanuel Dwete Darko, the Chairman of the Board of Directors of the school, appealed to the parents and other stakeholders to support the construction of a 10-hole water closet facility to help improve the sanitation in the school.
