Parliamentary Candidates (PC) for the Progressive Peoples’ Party (PPP) in the Adentan constituency of the Greater Accra Region, was a delight to watch as he engaged a cross section of his constituents to tell them about his party’s plan for the constituency when voted into power.
The PPP PC, Alhaji Mohammed Muftao also used the platform to pledged to engage in issue-based campaign ahead of the December, 7, polls.
The PPP Candidate made the pledge during a Parliamentary Debate organized by the Municipal office of the National Commission on Civic Education (NCCE) with support from the European Union at the End-Time Assemblies of God Church Hall in Accra.
Meanwhile, candidates for the opposition New Patriotic Party (NPP), National Democratic Congress (NDC), and Conversion Peoples Party (CPP) contesting for the parliamentary seat in the Adentan constituency; failed to turned up for the debate.
Alhaji Muftoa in his delivering called on the gathering to ensure that they maintain the peace the constituency has enjoyed over the years before, during, and after the upcoming presidential and parliamentary elections.
“As a parliamentary hopeful, one of things I should do is to listen, when you listen and communicate you are able to provide for the needs of the people” he noted.
Speaking in an interview with Today, after the event, the Municipal Director of NCCE, Mad. Sylvia Osei-Bonsu thanked the identifiable groups and individuals who took time off their busy schedule to attend the program.
However, she did not hide her disappointment in the NPP, NDC and CPP candidates who failed to show up.
Some of groups who came all the way from Adjiriganor, and Malejon to enquire from the candidates especially that of the NPP and NDC what policies they have put in place to develop their area also felt very disappointed as both candidates from NPP, NDC, and CPP failed to turn up for the debate.
“Their failure to meet with us shows that, both the NPP and NDC candidates do not respect us. If not they would have shown up to interact with us” one of the members noted.
