Last Wednesday, thousands of executives and card-bearing members of the Progressive People’s Party (PPP) across the country confirmed by popular acclamation the candidature of Dr Papa Kwesi Nduom, as the party’s presidential candidate for the 2012 polls.
And prior to his confirmation, Dr Nduom had been the only person who had declared his intention to contest the flag-bearership slot of the party, thereby making him the sole presidential aspirant.
About 2,500 paid up members and card-carrying members of the party in all the 230 constituencies across the country at the same time endorsed Dr Nduom to contest the 2012 General Elections.
Dr Nduom who was a special guest at the Ablekuma Central event was the toast of party members and supporters who thronged the venue of the event.
Ecstatic party members sang in unison to accept the decision by the constituency party members to endorse the candidature of Dr Nduom for this year’s elections.
Dr Nduom also obliged the enthusiastic gathering about why he was interested in becoming the President of Ghana, noting that “I am interested in becoming the President of the Republic of Ghana because I have something positive to offer my country and its people: I am capable of leading a team of the best men and women to transform Ghana today from third world to first in a record time, with urgency, selfless dedication to work and discipline.”
