drawing a realistic glass

YouTube user PortraitPainter Pabst has released a 3D drawing that is so impressively realistic it may just represent a high water mark in the genre?s form.

In the video, which you can see above, the painter draws and then shades a simple glass of water, which is either half full or full empty depending on your point of view.

You see him construct the work line-by-line ? and yet, when the drawing is complete, the glass looks so real that you can barely believe it is a 2D rendering.

In fact, you might say that it muddies the waters between what is real and what is drawn.

The video has been watched over half a million times since it was uploaded to YouTube last month. It is the latest in a series by PortraitPainter Pabst, which includes demonstrations of how to paint a 3D baseball cap and a 3D hole.
