Blasts rocked media houses in Abuja and Kaduna on Thursday
Hours after a suicide bomb attack on Thisday Newspaper offices in Abuja and Kaduna, and another bombing along the Ungwan Muazu Road in Kaduna, Police and some security agencies have mounted check points in all link routes to the capital city.
A check on some of the roads revealed serious congestion.
On the Abuja Keffi road, which on normal working days experiences traffic, there was a gridlock on Thursday night and some commuters resorted to trekking.
Mathew Utegba, one of the stranded commuters, said: “This people (security agents) have just chosen to suffer, to me this is medicine after death. Where were they when they crossed the bomb with the vehicle? Is it blocking the road that will recall the dead victims to life?”
“They shouldn’t make us suffer for their inefficiency and allow us to live our life and defend ourselves since they have failed us,” he said.
“This is pure wickedness from the government, they should pity us and do the right thing, not this show here just to suffer us,” Fatima Abubakar, a motorist said.
Similar situations were seen on Abuja Zuba Route and Airport Road, where they seem to be tightening checkpoints.
When asked why the action after the attack, one of the police officers, who requested anonymity, said it was an order from their superiors who neither answered nor returned Daily Times’ calls
