Kwesi Nyantakyi presidency under threat?

There is a massive ploy to unseat incumbent Ghana FA boss Kwesi Nyantakyi at the next congress in 2015, Happy FM reported on Monday.
According to the Accra-based sports station, there are plans by some unnamed persons to ensure Nyantakyi is dethroned and have started the ground work to bring in a new face to steer the country?s football.
They claimed on Friday that a staggering $70,000 would be made available to some journalists, politicians and those at the grassroots amongst others to make him unpopular with increasing signs that the 44-year-old could run unopposed following his outstanding performances over the last eight years.
Nyantakyi has remained a cult figure since he ascended the presidency, making him a powerful force to contend with which has forced his critics to work against his potential victory at the next congress of the Ghana FA.
Whoever wants to unseat the highly-respected football chief must have the support of the professionals clubs and leagues as well as regional block for a tilt at the FA job.
Nyantakyi grip on power depends on the support of congress but he seems to enjoy massive support from many of the members.
Today (Monday December 30) marks exactly eight years that the affable football administrator was elected as the first president of the Ghana Football Association.
