The expected goal of the plot is the total discrediting of the president and his team in a bid to place him in a very weak position before a nation that would be clamouring for a change as a prelude to the 2015 polls.
Findings by Per Second News revealed that the plan is to portray President Goodluck Jonathan as indecisive and weak. The Powerful individuals also have partners inside the Jonathan administration, especially two strong aides of the President.
Per Second News uncovered a specific aspect of the agenda which is the portrayal of the Jonathan presidency as anti-people and a puppet of some international agency and governments, using the Chicago based AKPD PR Firm in the United States to boost the profile of the opposition party.
Speaking with Per Second News a strategist of the AKPD PR firm owned by David Axelrod confirmed that the PR outfit already has officers and offices in Lagos and some states in Nigeria. In another email correspondence with the Per Second News another official said that the firm will be active in the elections in Ekiti and the State of Osun.
These group comprises of people financially backed by members of the opposition party, with each collaborating to ensure a discredited federal administration before the 2015 general elections. Per Second News findings indicate that they are mostly people who are dissatisfied with the economy and fiscal programme of the administration. Part of the conspiracy is to create a climate of misinformation and a full blown onslaught on the administration knowing well that the President intends to declare for a second term in office come July 2014.
Another powerful group that is also working to discredit the government is allegedly linked to a former President who is said to be bitter about the fall- out of the succession plan. This group feels that the President should not seek for a second term,it is believed that the group is also angered by the refusal of President Jonathan to make expected concessions to them as a placatory gesture.
Per Second News reliably gathered that one of President Goodluck Jonathan?s trusted aide who is a private principal secretary to the President, leads another influential group. The PPS has been feeding the President with deliberate misinformation about some governors, ministers, Presidency staff, federal policies and programmes.
He is believed to be driving a wedge of discord within the federal government by pitching the president against some governors, ministers and villa staff.
The PPS from Adamawa State played a major role in the feud between the President and governor Murtala Nyako of Adamawa, according to a source in the Presidency. ? In 2011 Gov Nyako against all odds delivered Adamawa State to Mr President, he fought a massive war against the likes of former vice President Abubakar Atiku, former Governor Buba Marwa and many political opponents in a bid to ensure President Jonathan?s victory, so between then and now, what has gone wrong, asked a top PDP stalwart from the North.
It is believed that through his leech craft and the spiritual manipulation of his hordes of marabouts, the PPS is said to have kept an unbreakable tab on the decision making faculty of the president especially on sensitive issues, and award of juicy contracts.
In the wake of the abduction of over 200 school girls in Chibok, he was one of those who advised the President to keep mute over the matter, informing the President that the abduction saga is a hoax and a propaganda by the opposition, instructing all media aides of the president to keep sealed lips on the matter of the missing girls.
Recent international outrage against the federal government and President Jonathan informed the U-turn in the approach to find the missing girls, and the acceptance of assistance from foreign countries.
The PPS who travels everywhere with President Jonathan has taking over the functions of the new Chief of Staff, retired General Arogbofa who is considered as an ?outsider? by the group led by the PPS.
General Arogbofa?s effort to clean out and sanitize the villa is being hampered by the group who has uncontrolled access to the President.
The ill advice given to the President seems to have generated world-wide outrage and condemnation for the administration with President Jonathan seeing his political fortunes plummet less than nine months before general elections. Late Thursday afternoon in Washington a top U.S. Defense Department official said that Nigeria had been too slow to respond to the threat of Boko Haram. “In general Nigeria has failed to mount an effective campaign against Boko Haram,” Alice Friend, the Pentagon’s principal director for African Affairs, told a hearing of the Senate Foreign Relations Committee’s Africa subcommittee.
“The Department has been deeply concerned for some time by how much the Government of Nigeria has struggled to keep pace with Boko Haram’s growing capabilities,” Friend said.
Friend said it was troubling that atrocities have been perpetrated by some Nigerian forces during operations against Boko Haram.
On his own part, Robert Jackson, acting assistant Secretary of State for African Affairs, said Washington has urged Nigeria to reform its approach to the group. “When soldiers destroy towns, kill civilians and detain innocent people with impunity, mistrust takes root,” he said.
Nigeria has been reluctant to designate Boko Haram as a terrorist threat at the United Nations, but Jackson said it has changed its position and he expected that designation imminently.
Delaware Senator Chris Coons, the subcommittee chairman, said that the odds the girls would get home safely were diminishing every day.
“It took too long for the Nigerian government to respond to the girls’ abduction. It took too long for the Nigerian government to accept offers of assistance from the United States, the United Kingdom, France and China, and once accepted, it took too long for that assistance to be fully implemented,” he said.
?He has looked slow to react, the international assistance looks as though it has been forced on him, and he has come in for unprecedented criticism abroad,? Francois Conradie, an analyst at Paarl, South Africa-based research group NKC Independent Economists, said in an e-mailed reply to a foreign media firm Thursday.
