The Gombe State House of Assembly on Wednesday inaugurated two ad hoc committees to monitor the Muslim and Christian pilgrimages in the state this year.
The Speaker of the House, Alhaji Inuwa Garba, told newsmen in Gombe that the purpose of the committees was to monitor the activities of the pilgrims? welfare boards for hitch-free pilgrimages.
According to him, the committees are to also assist in identifying grey areas in the conduct of the religious trips, with a view to correcting them in subsequent operations.
He added that “problems and complaints come up every year during the Muslim and Christian pilgrimages which must be looked into holistically.
“We have to monitor the cause or causes of the problems and those things which will make the pilgrims to complain so that we can find solutions to them.
“Some of the problems should not be allowed to recur, as they are simple things which can be tackled immediately.??
