Patrick Kumor Glorifies President Over MMDCE Nomination

Mr. Patrick Kwesi Brako Kumor, first vice chairman of Weija-Gbawe Constituency, a branch of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) in the Greater Accra Region, has glorified His Excellency Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, the 5th President of the 4th Republic of Ghana for nominating competent and loyal individuals to steer the affairs of the MMDAs.

In an exclusively interview granted to Hard Point Newspaper at his residence in Accra yesterday, Thursday April 27, 2017, the outspoken politician said, the MMDCEs nominated by the President of the Republic on Wednesday April 26, to take charge of the remaining 212 MMDAs is in good faith and in the interest of the entire country.

He added that, the most important thing is that, the President has exercise his constitutional right per Article 243(1) of the 1992 constitution. “The President has the sole prerogative to nominate and appoint persons to man the MMDAs as he so wish” he explained.

It can be recalled that, on Wednesday April 26, 2017, the President through the Local government ministry released the long awaited nominees for the Metropolitan, Municipal and District Chief Executive position. In the said release all 212 nominees for the Metropolitan, Municipal and District Chief Executive position were listed.

Mr. Patrick Kumor, who filed his nomination, but could not get nominated as Municipal Chief Executive for the Ga South Municipal Assembly, was very much pleased with the decision taken by the President. “The President knows best, and has done what he thinks is best for the country, I cannot challenge it” he said. Who am I to challenge the president’s decision? He quizzed. He was full of praises for the President.

He congratulated Mr. Joseph Nyarni Stephen on his nomination as the Municipal Chief Executive for the Ga South Municipal Assembly. He pledged his unflinching support for the incoming MCE and remarked that, his doors are opened to Mr. Joseph Nyarni Stephen for any discussion which will be in the interest of the Assembly.

He ended with a call on all persons in the Ga South Municipal Assembly to accord the incoming MCE with the needed respect and cooperation to enable him bring develop to the door steps of all persons in the Assembly.
