Old students association of the Opoku Ware Senior High School has commissioned an ultra- modern mathematics and science laboratory complex at a cost of one twenty thousand Ghana cedis (GHC120.00) to support academic work of the school.

The 1992 to 2017 (AO/AT 300) year group refurbished the laboratory with a 42 inch Flat screen television, projector, computers and dining facilities.

The commissioning which was done alongside the school’s speech and prize-giving day also saw hard working teachers receiving awards including vacation trips to South Africa.

The project is to motivate the school to compete favourably in Science and Maths competitions.

The Independent Presidential Candidate in the 2016 elections Joseph Osei Yeboah who represented the Bantamahene Baffour Owusu Amankwatia VI, (F106)  in his speech commended the school for keeping its values and maintaining its academic credentials.

He however bemoaned the quality of students being churned out of various schools into the job market.

‘I am grateful to the generation of teachers and leaders who have ensured that over the years Opoku Ware School attains and retains an enviable reputation as a force to reckon with, notwithstanding our relatively young age.

Mr Chairman, in today’s fast moving world, it is worrying to know that many of our institutions of learning have become giant factories churning out graduates at frightening speed and seeing them off with little more than certificate into a labour market that looks beyond certificates for its needs,’ he said.
