The Secretary to the Asantehene,Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, has made some comments regarding the Asantehene?s stolen jewels and it?s ramifications for the King.
Speaking on BBC?s Focus on Africa, Kofi Owusu Boateng, the secretary to the King, said the Asantehene cannot be destooled since the jewels were only ?a few? meant to be used for a day?s programme.
?I can?t put any value on it; they were just a few of them and they were contained in a very small bag; a briefcase?people thought that it was a big suitcase but no, it was very small containing something he was going to use for a day. It is not such a big deal as people are speculating?? he said.
The Asantehene?s jewels which are ancestral jewels belonging to the Royal Asante Kingdom, were stolen in Norway?s Radisson Blu Plaza Hotel. This has lead to various speculations about the possible destoolment of the King should he return to Ghana without the jewels.
The Asantehene is representing Ghana at a conference in the Norwegian capital.
