Ahead of the February 14th general elections, elders from the Okigwe senatorial zone of the state has solicited support for the candidature of the Speaker, Imo state House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Benjamin Uwajumogu to enable him deliver on the needs of the Okigwe people.

The Chairman, Imo state Elders? Council and President General, Odimma Okigwe, Chief EJK Onyebuchi, who made this call in a political rally organized by the All Progressives Congress, APC, in Ihitte-Uboma area, maintained that the Speaker has brought smiles to the people of the zone through his laudable achievements within the three and half years he has been on the saddle.

He disclosed that the zone has witnessed monumental achievements in different sectors of governance such as, massive road construction and rehabilitation, human capital development, education, healthcare, as well as agriculture, adding that the zone has benefitted maximally from the state government?s Rescue Mission philosophy, which he said has reaffirmed the commitment of Imo people to the art of governance.

While describing the Speaker as the political lion and icon of Okigwe zone, who has shown good character and capacity in piloting the affairs of his people, Chief Onyebuchi, however noted that for the zone to continue to benefit from the mainstream governance of the APC led government, it was imperative that men with cognate experience as well as sound character for good leadership be fully supported to go and bring back the ?goodies? for the good of their people.

The state Elder?s Council Chairman also hinted that the zone was in dire need of a political navigator, whose pedigree would go a long way in alleviating the sufferings of his people, stressing that the Uwajumogu candidacy represents that new breath of fresh air for the people of Okigwe zone.

Chief Onyebuchi, further pointed out that a vote for Uwajumogu during the election would be a vote for a continued free and qualitative education, massive attraction of urban and rural infrastructure, effective and efficient healthcare system, human capital development and poverty alleviation, adding that Okigwe cannot afford to lag behind in the wind of change that is currently blowing across the country.
