The Ningo-Prampram District Assembly (NIPDA) has formed a taskforce of security officials to ensure a peaceful District Level Election in area.elections

Alhaji Sa Rhack Nartey, Ningo-Prampram District Chief Executive, said the District Security Council (DISEC) took the decision at a meeting to create the needed peaceful environment for the March 3rd, District Level Election.
Alhaji Nartey made this known at a stakeholders engagement recently organized by the National Commission for Civic Education (NCCE) with support from the European Union.
He said the task force was made up of the police, military, fire service and other national
security agencies.
He added that four vehicles would also be provided for police patrols in the area especially
some flash points identified by the DISEC.
The DCE cautioned aspirants against instigating their followers to create chaos in their
electoral areas.
He said creating chaos and confusion among followers would negatively affect the smooth conduct of the election in their areas.
Mrs Lucille Annang, NCCE Greater Accra Regional Director, called on aspirants to properly
educate residents in their electoral areas on the importance of the district level election and the local governance system.
Mrs Annang also said there was the need for Assembly Members to speak the truth to their electorates about their responsibilities at the Assembly.
She explained that because Assembly Members do not speak the truth to the people, residents
expect them to perform responsibilities such as paying of school fees, medical bills and rents for them.
She reminded residents that such things were not the responsibilities of the Assembly Members emphasising that their duty was to facilitate development to their areas.
Mrs Gifty Badu, NCCE Ningo-Prampram District Director, urged aspirants to encourage their
followers to massively participate in the election and vote for committed and dedicated people to represent them at the Assemblies.
Mrs Badu bemoaned the dwindling voter turnout for the district level elections over the
years stressing that the election was a platform for electorates to participate in the country’s democracy.
She also reminded aspirants not to associate themselves with party politics or engage
politicians in their campaign as it was against the district level elections law.
Mr Charles Botchway, Ningo-Prampram District Electoral Commission Officer, said the Local Governance Act 462, indicated that a District should have about 75,000 resident populations, while a Municipality and Metropolis should have 95,000 and 250,000 people respectively.
Mr Botchway said the Assemblies were the basic point of the country’s democracy system and therefore urged the public to fully participate in its activities.
He explained that the vote for an Assembly member was based on a simple majority win while Constitutional Instrument (CI) 68 allowed for five elected and two appointed Unit Committee members for each electoral area.
