Dakuku Peterside, director-general of the Nigerian Maritime Administration and Safety Agency, told reporters in Lagos that Nigeria has entered into a maritime partnership with South Korea.

He said Nigeria needed the cooperation from South Korea to enhance its maritime industry, especially to provide adequate support in combating piracy and other forms of crimes at sea.
Nigeria, a maritime nation with a coast line of about 420 nautical miles and exclusive economic zone of 200 nautical miles, has been suffering from piracy.
“Our vision is to have a safe and secured ocean with zero piracy in the next one year,” the official said.
South Korean Consul-General to Nigeria, Lee Younghoan, who agreed on the deal on behalf of his country, assured of South Korea’s readiness to support Nigeria in the area of maritime safety and security. Enditem
