The Managing Director (MD) of Mantrac Limited, sole authorized Caterpillar Trucks in Ghana, Mr. Emad Adeeb has noted that contractors are facing lots of challenges in today?s competitive world of construction, in areas of maximizing their productivity and lower their operating cost.
But, he said, the application of new technologies in machinery and production can significantly improve their bottom line productivity to achieve significant results.
He made this observation during a press briefing to open a one-day CAT Road Construction Seminar in Accra.
Mr. Emad Adeeb said, although government in its 2014 budget statement allocated GH?1.5billion in infrastructure development of which sizeable proportion was available to road construction, road construction is still faced with difficulties.
The Mantrac MD averred that because road contractors need more than just great machines, Mantrac has gone a step further to create customer engagement sessions, provide flexible financial support to customers, after sale support, warranties and machines in flexible packages.
He said, the seminar was timely and relevant as the company will introduce participants to the latest machinery and technologies available in today?s market.

The company has assembled the cr?me d la cr?me of the Ghanaian Road Contraction Business on the seminar to offer in depth knowledge on the topics under discussion.
He indicated that over the years, Ghana has been able to offer customized equipment to the growth of the industry, hence the introduction of some durable equipments ranging from mining equipments, forklifts, legendary Caterpillar and Olympian Brand of Generating sets.
?In our quest to impact to position ourselves for the Mining and Oil & Gas sectors, we are currently undertaking an investment worth $30m for the construction of Cat Engine Rebuild Centre to support Ghana and West Africa Sub region,? he said.
The project, he indicated, comprises over 26 acre workshop with 10,000 square meter repair center and over 5,000 square meter warehouse to be completed by the close of the year, 2014.
Since the establishment of the company in 1937, Mantrac Ghana Limited has supplied and supported Caterpillar products in many sectors of the Ghanaian economy such as construction, mining, forestry, material handling and power generation.
The company is part of the giant Mantrac Group, which holds the Caterpillar dealership in Egypt, Nigeria, Siera Leone, Kenya, Tanzania, Uganda, Iraq and Western Siberia region of Russia.
