The standard bearer of the Progressive People?s Party (PPP) has hit hard at critics who have concluded that although he is a good candidate his party cannot win the December 2012 Elections retorting that Ghana has only twenty years (20) of wasted votes to show for its achievements.
?You have voted and wasted your votes for twenty years (20) and this can be seen in the recession of almost everything in Ghana,? Dr. Papa Kwesi Nduom stated, adding that it was therefore time for the PPP to be given the opportunity to show its mettle in governance.
The PPP leader made this statement during his campaign tour in the Western Region yesterday.
The Nduom-led campaign tour was in the three Nzema constituencies in the region?namely Jomoro, Ellembelle and Evalue-Gwira.
At Bonyire in the Jomoro constituency, Dr. Nduom told the teeming crowd in the township that their votes for the past years has culminated in unimproved livelihoods for them arguing that unemployment has reached record height, infrastructural development has not been seen with parents not being able to send their children to school.
He disclosed that it was during his tenure as energy minister that he vehemently pushed for the siting of the Osagyefo Badge in the Western Region instead of Tema in the Greater Accra Region.
According to Dr. Nduom, it was therefore this singular act that has led to the oil found which has brought hope to the people of this region.
He therefore urged the people of Jomoro to vote for him and his party since they have the ideas to greatly benefit the constituency.
Earlier, at Elubo also in the Jomoro constituency, Dr. Nduom and his team interacted with market women in the area touting the party?s desire to govern based on competence and incorruptibility.
At the Lorry park too, Dr. Nduom and his team addressed drivers proclaiming that with the discovery of oil in the region, the PPP if given the nod would prudently use the oil proceeds to properly develop the region which they contend has been lacking infrastructural developments.
An Nduom-led government, he stated, would bring infrastructural development to the region in order to open up the region for investors which would intend create the needed jobs.
Dr. Nduom lamented that although the region abounds in natural resources, it was one of the least developed in the country.
The team later held mini rallies at Axim in the Evalue-Gwira constituency.
