National Democratic Congress (NDC) National Youth Organiser George Opare Addo has moved to reassure youth wing members who have grown discontented since the party assumed power, telling them the government and party remain committed to improving their prospects.

Known widely as Pablo, Opare Addo convened meetings with regional youth leadership on Wednesday, 25 March, beginning with the Greater Accra Region, the first stop in a planned series of engagements across all regions. His two deputies accompanied him.

“These meetings are designed to foster open dialogue with our Youth Organizers, creating space for frank conversations on the current state of the party and matters arising,” he said in a post on social media, adding that he used the sessions to reaffirm the government’s commitment to empowering the grassroots base through targeted initiatives that strengthen participation, build capacity, and expand opportunities for young people.

While acknowledging the frustrations members raised, Opare Addo urged them to hold on, saying: “Better days are ahead.”

Opare Addo currently holds the dual role of National Youth Organiser and government minister, a combination he confirmed earlier in 2025, though he has indicated he will not seek re-election to the party post at the NDC Congress later this year. In his ministerial capacity, he is overseeing programmes including the Adwumawura Programme and the National Apprenticeship Programme, designed to expand youth employment, entrepreneurship, and digital skills development.

The regional engagement tour is expected to continue across the remaining regions in the coming weeks.
