NDC Youth On Rampage

Information DAILY GUIDE has gathered indicates that hundreds of rampaging youth of the ruling National Democratic Congress (NDC) in the Bibiani-Ahnwiaso-Bekwai constituency of the Western Region virtually took over the area on Monday, in a massive demonstration to protest against the disqualification of their preferred candidate, one Moses Armah.

DAILY GUIDE gathered that in the process, the irate youth, wielding offensive weapons, attacked and vandalized certain valuable items at a provision store belonging to the wife of the Constituency Organizer of the party, Auntie Fati.

Confirming the attack in an interview with DAILY GUIDE, Auntie Fati said she was at home when all of a sudden, her children at the store ran to her to report that some irate youth were at the store vandalizing certain items

?I sell soft drinks at the store and when I got there, the youth had broken a lot of the bottles and destroyed most of the items,? she added.

Asked why she thought the NDC youth had vandalized her wares, she remarked that she did not know why and did not also know the said Moses Armah the youth were talking about.

DAILY GUIDE also gathered that the youth smashed the windscreens of the official vehicle of the current DCE, Adansi Bonah, with clubs.

According to reliable sources at Bibiani, Moses Armah, a former District Chief Executive (DCE) for the area who was elected to contest the seat on the ticket of the NDC in the party?s primary about a year ago, had to be disqualified on the grounds that he did not do his national service.

However, his supporters claimed that the basis for disqualifying him was unfounded and alleged that the disqualification of Armah might be because of the apparent enmity between him and the constituency chairman of the party, Jerry Kankam.

They therefore vented their spleen on the constituency chairman, accusing him of masterminding the alleged undue disqualification of their preferred choice.

?The regional executives must rescind the decision or else we are going to do something which will not be good for the party in this constituency,? one of the angry supporters told DAILY GUIDE

According to him, the decision to disqualify Armah did not go down well with majority of NDC supporters in the area and would create a lot of problems among the rank and file of the supporters there.

When DAILY GUIDE contacted the constituency chairman, Mr. Kankam remarked: ?I am far away in a village and so I can?t speak on the issue.?
