Dr. Kwabena Adjei - NDC Chairman

Dr. Kwabena Adjei ? NDC Chairman

Confusion is brewing in the Suhum branch of the ruling National Democratic Congress (NDC) over the award of contract to party cronies and the percentage of interest therein.

This has caused executives of the party in the constituency to issue a caveat protesting against the re-nomination of Samuel F. Kwabi as the Municipal Chief Executive for the area.

In a 10-point petition statement issued and signed by constituency Chairman  Alhaji Moro Nuhu, his Vice Daniel Tetteh and their colleagues; Secretary Bob Assah Ayeh, Deputy Secretary Grant Yirenkyi, Women?s Organizer Comfort Effah Owusu, Youth  Organiser Attah Bamfo, Organiser Edward Amuzu,  Treasurer George Adjewuda, Propaganda Secretary Kofi Damesi, they noted ?the 3-unit classroom building contract awarded to the party was not given to the executives to be awarded to a contractor of our choice.?

Instead, they indicated that ?he gave the contract out to a contractor of his choice and came to give us our percentage which was lower than agreed by national executive.?

They therefore noted that the essence of this petition which was copied to the Regional Minister, the Vetting Committee, the National Chairman and Regional Chairman was ?to avoid demonstration against him should there be re-election.?

Apart from that, the constituency executives said, ?We want to protect the dignity of the party in the Municipal? as the aforementioned authorities to as it were ?adhere to this petition to enable the party grow? since according to them ?the grassroots are not happy with his style of leadership it?s becoming some kind of autocratic system of governance,? insisting ?please, change him for peace to prevail.?

Apart from that, the Suhum constituency executives of the NDC noted that the MC has not helped the party in any way and that ?he brought division into the party as a whole? whilst ?awarding the biggest D.D.F contract in the Municipal to his friend in Tema?.

During his term of office for the four years, they claimed, Samuel Kwabi ?visited the constituency office only three times,? and that ?he has not been giving information to the party whenever there is a National programme.?

Aside that, they claimed ?he is always found at his office without accompanying the party executives to party programmes to know the problem confronting the grassroots? and that ?there is no co-operation between him and the party.?

After losing the primaries, he did not campaign for both the candidate and the president. He was always at his office whiles he had been instructed by the National Executive to move from their office to campaign and that ?because he lost the primaries, he was not seen in the campaign train for the party?s parliamentary candidate.?

In view of this, the executives said ?there is not much cooperation between the MCE, the constituency executives and the then parliamentary candidate? and that ?during the course of the elections, he was only seen in the morning going rounds?.

?Getting to 4:00pm when we needed his help with regards to mobilizing the security to protect our interest, he was nowhere to be found at the collation centre till the following morning so this gave the security personnel the upper hand to intimidate and molest us,? they alleged.
