?As their National Service postings delay without explanation

The Ghana Nurses and Midwife Trainees Association (GNMTA) has expressed displeasure in the delay of the posting of newly qualified nurses and midwives for National Service despite having settled all requirements and payments as required by the Nurses and Midwives Council.
The?results of the?professional Licensing exams ?of the Members of the Association has been released since December 2014.
These new nurses, who have been at home without allowances since August 2014 claim they are not being given any information as to?when their internship will commence.
The President of GNMTA in charge of Western and Central Zones, Mr. Onipanua Hukporty Derrick who is also a victim of the circumstance,?told Spy News Agency in an interview that??as a matter of fact, we the awaiting service personnel have satisfied our part of the requirements which primarily involve the payment of an amount of Gh? 250.00 registration fee, certificate, a LOG book for internship/national service, among others, so we cannot tell the exact cost of the delay now.
?Instead of us being issued with our respective PIN Codes to enable us register with the National Service Scheme (NSS), we are entirely saddled between the two major institutions as they keep telling us to hold on. Rumors has it that the person responsible for the Code at the Nurses and Midwives council is on his annual leave. Also, most of the personnel at the NSS office are under investigations due to the recent alleged corruption scandal unraveled at the secretariat,? he explained.
According to him, they as graduates are not interested in the rumors, however, if the said rumors are true then they demand an answer from whomever it may concern.
?Should graduate nurses and midwives continue to stay at home without serving their nation (which is mandatory) due to somebody?s working leave or an investigation into a corrupt practice by an individual?? he queried.
?We the innocent graduate nurses and midwives are still home ?aimless, hungry and frustrated? as our colleagues who offered other courses are almost in the 7th month of their National Service.
It is in this vein that we wish to humbly implore the immediate intervention of the leadership of NMC, Ministry of Health and other stakeholders to aid us resolve this issue to pave way for us to get registered, posted and start our national service or internship as soon as possible.
