The annual ?national citizenship week? forum was yesterday organized under the auspices of the National Commission for Civic Education (NCCE)? at the Sky High School at Ashongman Estates in the Dome Kwabenya Constituency in Accra. The forum was held as part of nationwide program held in June of every year under the theme ?indiscipline and how it weakens the pillars of our democracy?. It was participated by the management, teachers and the entire students of the nursery, primary and the secondary level of the school
Alhaji Alhasan Abdulai Executive Director of eanfoworld-Ghana who spoke at the forum reminded?? Ghanaian children of their rights and responsibilities under the constitution in which among other things spells out their right to life, food, shelter, and clothing and above other things education.
He said in return they had the responsibility to be obedient to their parents by serving them at home?? and also their teachers by being punctual, truthful and serious with their studies at school. He added that it is only when they follow the rules and regulations at home and school that they would grow to be law abiding, disciplined and responsible leaders in future.
The Assistant Headmaster of the school Ebenezer Dzamesi who spoke on behalf of the management of the school thanked the NCCE for organizing the citizenship form for the second time running in the school and said that the management has been making good use of the advice given the school by the NCCE since the inception of the citizens week forums in the year 2012. As a result of the disciplinary actions taken on the students he said, the students of the school have been showing high level of discipline at all times.
One interesting thing that was discovered at forum as confirmed by the management of the school is that there are as many Muslim students as there are Christians at the school but they go about their religious activities harmoniously without hindrance from any quarters.
