NamPower will also review the single buyer model buyer that was put in place as part of the medium term solution to power problems.
The outcome of the review is expected to be done by Dec. 2016 and thereafter, a revised model that allows small power producers to sell directly to regional electricity distributors will be launched.
The small power producers can sell as little as 2.5MW.
In addition to the white paper, the Harambee plan will also seek to meet energy demands through the national integrated resources plan whose main role is to look into how Namibia can make use of solar and wind energies.
From now until 2019/20, according to the Harambee plan, Namibia will have to rely on short-term power generation projects using diesel. Enditem
