Namibia officially opened its High Commission in Ghana here on Friday to offer visa and consular services as well as provide travel and tourism advice to the public.
The deputy Namibia High Commissioner to Ghana, Gabriel Shaanika, said the permanent representation in Ghana would ensure continuity of the existing cooperation between Ghana and Namibia.
?It is very important to strengthen the relationship between our two countries and to initiate more trade and investment projects to boost our economies,? he said at the official opening ceremony.
He said Namibia would seek to explore local partnerships with the Ghanaian government and local organizations in agriculture.
Until now, Namibia did not have a permanent representation in Ghana.
People and travelers residing in Ghana had to go to Abuja, the capital of Nigeria, for services such as visa applications and other travel-related matters from the Namibia High Commission in Nigeria.
The opening of the Namibian High Commission in Ghana is expected to end the challenges travelers endure in obtaining services from the High Commission.
