Launching the Namibia Migration Profile Friday in Windhoek, immigration minister Pendukeni Iivula-Ithana said it will also provide an overview on arrivals and departures.

The migration profile, she said, is the first step in drafting a migration policy.
“The information contained in the profile will ensure that the policy we intend coming up with is supported by data and thereby ensuring that it will be directed to address gaps which are identified in the profile,” the minister said.
She said Cabinet has given its nod for the drafting of the policy because managing migration is close to the government of Namibia.
The study was compiled in conjunction with the International Organization for Migration (IOM) that funded training on how the profile can be used.
Iivula-Ithana said there will be a two-day training workshop at the coastal town of Swakopmund, 350 km from the capital Windhoek, starting from June 20. Enditem
