It?s sad to think that at just five-years-old there was a little boy terrified for his safety as the adults he lived with did not seem to care for it much. It is even more depressing to know that the same 5-year-old boy is dead now, and that his parents are to blame.
Suspect Tavon Ludy
A Madison County mother, and her fianc? are currently behind bars for the unneccessay death of their young child.
A call came in on Sunday, September 29, to 911 from the 2100 block of Rose Knoll Lane, explaining that a five-year-old child was not being responsive.
The five-year-old Torian Whittaker?s body was found lifeless by deputies. The boy?s body was transported to an area. hospital. There he was pronounced dead.
According to authorities, Torian and his seven-year-old brother were left in the hands of 24-year-old, Tavon Ludy when it came to discipline. Investigators believe that it was Ludy?s punch to Torian?s chest that led to the child actually collapsing and dying.
Ludy is being penalized for this tragedy as he has now been charged with two counts of First Degree Murder and Aggravated Battery to a Child.
The child?s mother, Toria Coleman, 27, is not getting off without accepting some accountability as she also faces child endangerment charges.
Though young Torian?s mother was out shopping for his birthday during the time of his fatal blow, investigators say that the woman was fully aware of the abuse that had been going on between her fianc?, Torian and his brother.
Ludy?s bond has been set at $550,000, and Coleman?s bond is $50,000.
The Illinois Department of Children and Family Services currently has custody of the 7-year-old.
