Nana Nobina Nketsiah V, the Omanhene of Essikado Traditional Council, has called on telecommunication networks to ensure that social media promoted development.
He said social media were becoming a big platform for information sharing and must therefore be regulated in order to advance development as against divisiveness.
Nana Kobina Nketsia said this when he received a donation MTN made to the Council as part of activities marking twin-city festival, an annual campaign to bring the brand closer to the traditional authorities and the people in the twin-city.
The MTN donated 3,000 Ghana cedis, drink hamper and other souvenirs to the council.
Mr. David Gyimah-Boadi, the Senior Manager for South- West Business District, said the campaign to bring the MTN brand closer had received both local and international attention.
