MahamaHardly does a day passes by that one does not hear of one form of demonstration or strike action in the country nowadays.

The situation has become so common under the leadership of President John DramaniMahama and his NDC administration that it now seem to be the order of the day, and the only language that the government seemed to understand.

One can count organized groups such as the Teachers and Educational Workers Union [TEWU], the National Association of Graduate Teachers [NAGRAT], the Polytechnic Teachers Association of Ghana [POTAG], the National Association of Teachers [GNAT], the University Teachers Association of Ghana [UTAG], the Ghana Medical Association [GMA], Trainee Nurses, Railway Workers and above all the almighty Trade Union Congress [TUC] all demonstrating or embarking on a sit down strike.

The list can go on and on, with all agitating for a common goal: better condition of service, increase in salary, ?unacceptable? adjustment in utility tariffs and fuel prices, the incessant introduction of all manner of taxes coupled with the harsh economic situation that the country is faced with.

The most serious aspect of the problem is that organized labour has warned of embarking on more strike actions should the government fail to address issues confronting Ghanaian workers.

It was no surprise that the government has assured of tackling the plight of the Ghanaian worker so as to find an amicable solution to their problem.

With that assurance by the government, The Moment wants to say that the time to act is now to save the country from losing huge income as a result of these strikes, and also to save the president and his NDC government from this further embarrassment.
