The Member of Parliament for Bibiani Anhwiaso Bekwai, Hon. Bright Asamoah Brefo, has taken a significant step toward strengthening security in his constituency by donating a brand-new Nissan pickup vehicle to the Bibiani Divisional Police Command. This gesture forms part of his ongoing commitment to support state institutions and ensure they are adequately equipped to protect lives and property. It also fulfills a promise he made earlier to provide logistical support to the police, recognizing their vital role in maintaining peace and stability in the area.
The presentation ceremony, held in Bibiani, drew a diverse group of stakeholders including traditional leaders, senior police officers, assembly members, party executives, and residents. The gathering underscored the growing collaboration between political leadership, traditional authorities, and security agencies in promoting development and safeguarding communities.
In his remarks, Hon. Brefo stressed that security remains a top priority for his office, noting that no meaningful development can occur in an environment where people feel unsafe. He explained that investing in the police service is a direct investment in the safety, growth, and prosperity of the constituency. Nana Kwasi Ator Ware II, Chief of Bassengeley, who represented Ogyeahoho Yaw Gyebi II, praised the MP for what he described as a bold and responsible step. He commended Hon. Receiving the keys on behalf of the Ghana Police Service, ACP Sampson Abgeko expressed deep gratitude to the MP for the timely support. He explained that the command has been facing logistical challenges that hinder their operations, and the new Nissan Navara would greatly enhance police work. According to him, the vehicle will be crucial for routine patrols, rapid response to distress calls, escort duties, crime prevention operations, and community engagement activities. Improved mobility, he added, will allow officers to reach remote communities more effectively, thereby extending security coverage across the constituency.
ACP Abgeko assured the MP, traditional leaders, and residents that the vehicle would be used strictly for official duties and maintained properly to ensure its longevity. He reaffirmed the police service’s commitment to upholding law and order, protecting citizens, and working closely with the community to prevent crime.
