Ghana?s most beautiful lady, Miss Abigail Bacerre, has been honoured with the title, ‘Pogsarahi-Naa’, (Queen of Young Girls), by the Wala Traditional Council at a durbar of chiefs and people of Wa on Saturday.
The durbar, which was organised at the forecourt of the Wa-Naa Palace, to celebrate the achievements of Miss Bacerre, was attended by people from all walks of life and across the region amidst drumming and dancing.
Wa-Naa, Alhaji Pelpuo Fuseini, Paramount Chief of the Wala Traditional Area, in his welcoming address, expressed gratitude of people in the region to Ghanaians for supporting Miss Bacerre to win the 2014 Ghana?s Most Beautiful Contest.
?Our daughter’s success and achievement at the tournament is a collective effort of all Ghanaians, and we need to acknowledge them because our votes alone would not have won her the title,? the Wa-Naa said.
Naa Fuseini lauded the programme, and said it helped to unite the people of Ghana because the contestants did perform different cultural practices from regions other than their own.
He encouraged the youth in the region to embrace hard work, determination and research in whatever endeavours they found themselves, referring to Miss Bacerre as an example.
He urged the youth in the region to draw many lessons from Miss Bacerre, saying: ?it does not matter where you are coming from, success will always come your way through hard work, commitment, determination and focus, on whatever you are doing?.
Naa Pelpuo advised the beauty queen to be guided by her actions and inactions, as she had become a public figure, and an ambassador of the region.
Madam Wendy Tay, Branch Manager TV3, on behalf of the Board and Management of the company, officially handed over Miss Bacerre to the chiefs and people of the region, and urged them to support her in the implementation of her project.
Miss Bacerre thanked the chiefs and people of the region for the honour done her, pointing out that it was a collective effort of Ghanaians that won her the title.

Miss Bacerre urged Ghanaians, especially those in the Upper West Region, to keep on promoting their cultures, while appealing to them to stay united, to enhance development.
Mr. Kale Gatin, a Wa-based businessman who chaired the function, appealed to traditional rulers and other stakeholders to work hard and unite people in the region.
He said the people were so divided and polarized that it was impacting negatively on development.
The businessman advised the youth to emulate Miss Bacerre, and work hard to elevate the region during national events, to discard the negative perceptions that some people have about the region.
