Ministers of State will soon be subjected to a performance contract by the President to determine their continuous stay in office.

The move is to enable the President to fairly gauge the performance of the various ministers in their respective ministries within a specific time frame.

The ministers, per the contract will be expected to work to meet specific targets that will be set by the President and the monitoring team tasked to supervise the performance of ministers.

This was disclosed by deputy Minister of Information and Media Relations Murtala Mohammed when he addressed the presidential press corps at the Flagstaff House on Friday.

He said ?with regards to the policy direction of government, how those policies are going to be implemented, the timeline and the objectives and if you like the outcomes. It?s just a whole plan, if you like, performance contract plan that each Minister will be assessed.?

The deputy Minister added that ?there are going to be strategies through which Ministers can achieve those targets and their performance to a very large extent be evaluated based on the targets that we set as a Minister.?
