Commonwealth GamesSports Minister Mahama Ayariga has expressed disappointment at the performance of Team Ghana at the just ended Commonwealth Games in Glasgow, Scotland.

Ghana presented 86 athletes to compete in 17 different events but eventually managed to win two bronze medals, one from Judo and another from boxing.

Apart from the poor outing of the team in Glasgow, there were other issues that did not please the Minister.

?Let me say that I am not too impressed with the performance of Team Ghana, but that challenge provides us with an opportunity as a nation to mobilize to make a change in the not too distant future.

?I think it is the result of the state of development of sports generally in our country and this is the more reason why we must all be agitated and mobilised towards repositioning sports in Ghana.

?So yes I’m not impressed with our performance but that challenge also provides an opportunity as a nation to mobilise as a nation to make a change in the not too distant future.?

Ghana?s performance at this year?s games saw no improvement over the last Commonwealth Games staged in Delhi, India, where team Ghana had only three medals.
