The Queen mother of Gomoa Brofo in the Central Region, Nana Amowi III has warned that the traditional authority in the area is bent on punishing any teenager who will be found pregnant as well as the person who impregnated her.
Nana Amowi gave the warning following the high incidents of teenage pregnancy in the area I which three Junior High School girls as well as a class four pupil were found pregnant.
This came to light when the Gomoa West District Chief Executive, Mr. Theophilus Aidoo Mensah commissioned a 6-Unit class room block Ghana Education Trust Fund [GETFUND] project and also inspected an on-going Nurses Quarters in the town.
At a durbar held to commission the project, the DCE also warned parents to guide their children against pre-marital sexual activities and them to concentrate on their education so as to become useful citizens in the future.
Addressing the gathering, the Queen mother said the traditional authority is instituting bye-laws to penalize every child who will be found to be engaging in pre-marital sex to help reduce the incidents of teenage pregnancy in the town, if not to eradicate it entirely.
