Mali’s armed forces arrested 29 individuals in possession of weapons in the northern region of Gao, an official source said Sunday.
The arrest comes after a convoy of the UN Mission in Mali was attacked by armed men on Friday along Gossi-Gao road in the north, killing two drivers.
According to the statement, armed bandits riding on a motorcycle razed down three trucks on the convoy, and left two others members of the convoy, both civilians, seriously injured.
“After the attack, the security forces launched a patrol in Gao town and its environs and managed to arrest 29 people who were in possession of weapons and war materials,” the statement said. Enditem
