Local brewery embarks on $100m expansion project

Local breweryAccra Breweries Limited, one of the major beverage manufacturing firms in Ghana, is to invest 100 million dollars to expand its operations in the country.

The project will see the construction of two new state of the art packaging lines, a warehouse and a waste treatment plant.

The expansion project is expected to double the company?s capacity and will be completed over a period of 12 to 24 months.

Company officially cut the sod for the commencement of the expansion works on Tuesday.

Later in an interview with Joy Business, Managing Director of ABL, Gregory Metcalf noted that remarkable amount of work had been done already on the expansion projects.

He appealed to government to review the tax regime, especially those affecting manufacturing companies.

ABL employs over seven thousand workers both directly and indirectly.
