Kotoko players line-up
Heart of Lions roared in the dying minutes to cancel Asante Kotoko?s slender lead in their Glo Premier League at the Baba Yara Stadium yesterday.
Striker Kofi Nti Boakye gave the home side a breather from a spot kick in the 81st minute after they had come close to scoring on many occasions.
When it appeared that Coach Masa-ud Didi Dramani?s men had all the three points in their basket, Referee Sumaila Ibrahim awarded a controversial penalty in injury time which raised eyebrows.
Former Hearts of Oak/ Hasaacas defender Nana Egyir converted it perfectly to pick a vital away point.
Earlier, Kotoko?s Michael Helegbe, Nti Boakye and substitute Nafiu Iddrisu, who came in for Seidu Bansey, were inches away from recording their names on the score sheet but Lions? rear put up an above average performance to deny them.
The referee?s decision did not go down well with the home side, and indications were that some angry Kotoko players pursued him after the game until the security agency came to his rescue.
