Life Changes

0

Just like the majority of people out there I am completely normal. I wake up in the morning, brush my teeth and go to work. Then after I am over I go back home, watch TV, order some food or cook a microwave dinner and go to bed. Yes, completely boring, bland and normal. I was sleeping and slogging my way through life and I didn?t even notice it. And I wouldn?t probably have noticed it (not in time to change it anyway) if it wasn?t for my little sister.

She is the crazy one from the family, but I have always had had a weakness as it comes to her. After finishing college she took one year for backpacking around the world, which turned into 2 years. She was just like this, always on the impulsive and adventurous side of things. And after she returned back to the US, she spent a week in my place until she found an apartment.

This week changed my life. Before that we hadn?t had too much time together since I left for college. And because of her backpacking we had somewhat lost touch.

So she was surprised that I had started smoking, I from the other hand was surprised when she dumped all my cigarettes in the toilet giving me an electronic cigarette instead and singlehandedly deciding that I need to change my life because: quote ?I was starting to look like vegetable?. ?I guess she was right, because I couldn?t remember the last time I really felt happy or alive.? So without too much struggle on my part I was dragged and pushed to change.

My sister is like a tidal wave? a force of nature that cannot be stopped once she makes her mind about something.

I was prompted/ urged/ extorted/ threatened to start going to a gym. Well in the end I related started going to a gym and after about 2 weeks I was feeling better than anytime I could remember in the last 4 years.

On the fifth day of her stay I came home only to found out that a big part of my clothes had been given for charity and I was given the order to find clothes that don?t make me look that I am about to go into retirement.

Anyway after one week she found her place, but threatened with regular visitations to check my progress. The mere fact that I almost didn?t resist to her attempts shows that I really needed this change. Now I am fitter, happier and I live – not simply exist.?

Life can be strange in that way.
