Being called or tagged a star is not for the fun of it. It means many people appreciate your work or worth in whatever field of endeavour you find yourself. It is a label many are striving very hard to accomplish because of the numerous ?gifts? that accompanies the ?STAR? tag.
As a star, you should feel proud in exhibiting those qualities that makes you worthy of that title. And with musicians, it should reflect in your personality (swag).
Thanks to music videos and lifestyle magazine shows, we are privilege to peep into the lifestyles of such superstars. Again, we read and follow all their activities likewise their possessions or wealth-cars, cash, houses, investments. Superstar acts like P.Diddy, Jay-Z, Kanye West, Lil? Wayne are not the least scared to show off their wealth to the wider eyes of the general public.
In Ghana, it appears the opposite pertains. Our stars appear scared to floss their wealth to us, the fans. Even in music videos, they are, unlike their Nigerian counterparts, modest on what they reveal. Whilst we know how much Jay-Z and P.Diddy are worth, we are left to speculate on Sarkodie?s wealth.
Our music stars must realize that flaunting their wealth is no crime. Telling the world what you have is an avenue to dispelling this whole notion of music not being a profitable venture worth pursuing.
Let us see the cars you drive, the houses you live in, the designer clothes in your wardrobes, the wrist watches and the ?kicks? (shoe) you have acquired through your craft and sweat.
Artistes should realize that what they do is a JOB; an occupation. They live or survive on it just like any other person in the world who works legitimately. There are many corporate executives who show us what they have. If they could why can?t these stars?
The display of your success can melt away all the negative prejudices about musicians being ?worthless? and penniless folks. You can also inspire young children to aspire to be just like you. Parents will come to appreciate the fact that their wards can become musicians and survive on their chosen profession without any trepidation or uncertainties in the future.
So go on. Show us what you have got. Floss and Inspire.
