A newly-established urban, lifestyle radio station, Starr FM, which focuses on delivery of compelling entertainment-led programme through good music, sports and entertainment/lifestyle talk programmes for its listeners, has been launched.
The launching ceremony of the station which started operations a couple of months ago was held last Friday at the Labadi Beach Hotel in Accra. It attracted a large number of personalities such as politicians, stakeholders in the radio industry, celebrities and people from corporate Ghana also witnessed performance from the highlife music legend, Abrantie Amakye Dede.
Starr FM is an English-speaking radio station which operates from the Meridian House, Ring Road Central in Accra. It can be heard on?103.5 megahertz?and on?www.Starrfmonline.com.
In respect of news and current affairs, the station seeks to deliver accurate, factual, relevant and news-worthy stories to its listeners. Entertainment and lifestyle stories are strong features in its news.
It combines a comprehensive and credible news function, backed by innovative listener-driven on air programmes, and exciting promotions with vibrant audience participation.
The station covers the vibrant Ghanaian political scene with objective and balanced live reports, news features and documentaries as well as regular round-table discussions on pertinent issues.

Speaking at the official launch of the station, the Chairman of the National Media Commission (NMC), Kabral Blay Amihere, said that Starr FM, which started operations two months ago, has already made an impact in the already choked industry with its unique programming, news and music content.
According to him, despite the stiff competition in the radio industry in Ghana, he was convinced STARR FM could still make an impact.
Kabral, who expressed confidence in the leadership of the station?s Chief Executive Officer (CEO), Nat Kwabena Adisi, aka Bola Ray, said ?I?m convinced that under the guidance and leadership of Bola Ray who has established himself as an icon in the industry, STARR has a future and I look forward to listening to STARR every morning, every day for the next few years.?
