Kufuor Attends 23rd AU Summit

wpid-kufuor2.jpgFormer President John Agyekum Kufuor has left Accra for Malabo, Eqiuatorial Guinea, to attend the 23rd Summit of the African Union (AU) as well as the 31st Session of the New Partnership for Africa?s Development (NEPAD) Heads of State and Governments Orientation Committee.

The AU summit from June 26 to Friday June 27 will also be addressed by Mr. Ban Ki-Moon, the UN Secretary General.

A statement signed by his Spokesperson, Mr Frank Agyekum, said Former President Kufuor, in his capacity as UN Special Envoy on Climate Change, together with Mr. Ban will hold a discussion with the Committee of African Heads of State and Government on Climate Change (CAHOSCC).

The meeting will brief leaders on the objectives of the 2014 Climate Summit, outline the Secretary-General?s expectations for the Summit in September and the opportunities it presents for Africa as well as to hear the views of African leaders.

Prior to that meeting Former President Kufuor will address the NEPAD high level roundtable on: Transferring Africa?s agriculture for shared prosperity ? harnessing opportunities for inclusive growth and sustained development.? GNA
