Manchester City face an anxious wait to discover the extent of Vincent Kompany?s injury after the captain limped off against Southampton.
Kompany was forced off during the closing stages of City?s 3-0 victory with a hamstring problem and will be assessed by medical staff on Monday.
Boss Manuel Pellegrini confirmed the defender was a doubt for Wednesday?s Premier League clash with Sunderland.
?He has a problem with his hamstring but we cannot know the situation at the moment,? Pellegrini said.
?We will see with the doctor whether it?s just a cramp or an injury.?
With Eliaquim Mangala banned for the trip to Wearside following his red card at St Mary?s, Pellegrini would be forced into a major reshuffle at the back were Kompany to miss out.
But declaring faith in his reinforcements, the Chilean added: ?Of course, we don?t have both of them (Kompany and Mangala) but we have Martin Demichelis and Dedryck Boyata ? he is working very well.
